A useful shortlist, not another endless catalog.

ToyByAge is an independent gift guide for US shoppers. It sells nothing, takes no payment for placement, and publishes the rules it uses so that a list can be checked rather than trusted.
The qualification rules
A listing must match the selected age band, be available on Amazon in the US, and hold at least 4.4 stars across 200 or more customer reviews. We then use recent buyer demand to order every qualifying product in the curated list. Nothing is added because a brand asked, and nothing is held back because it did not.
The review-count floor matters more than the star rating. A 4.9-star average across twelve reviews is a weaker signal than 4.5 stars across three thousand, because the small sample has not yet met enough children, enough households, or enough winters.
What we do not check
This is the part most gift guides leave out. ToyByAge does not test toys in a lab, does not physically inspect products, and does not certify that any item is safe. We read the age grading a manufacturer publishes; we do not verify it. Our safety guides describe one-way screens — checks that can tell you to stop, never that you may proceed.
Recalls are the clearest example. We link to current regulator guidance in the safety guides, but ToyByAge is not a recall monitor, and a product appearing in a list is not evidence that it has never been recalled. Check the CPSC directly before buying anything second-hand or unfamiliar.
What “monthly” means
Product availability, price, rating and review count are re-checked during each catalog refresh. Every price shows its checked date because Amazon can change it at any time. A dated price is a reference, not a guarantee. If the date beside a price is old, treat the number as history.
Any child, boy or girl
“Any child” is the recommended default. It combines the two researched source lists, removes explicitly gender-coded listings and interleaves their rankings. Boy and girl remain optional refinements for shoppers who want them, and they draw from the same eligible interests rather than from a stereotype about what either should enjoy.
Independent presentation
Brands do not pay for a position in a list. Labels such as Amazon’s Choice and purchase counts are retailer signals, not ToyByAge endorsements. Our own labels describe list position or price range only.
Who is behind this
ToyByAge is written and maintained by Denis Šol, who runs the site, applies the thresholds above to every list, and checks each safety guide against the regulator and research sources it cites. Guides carry a byline and a review date for exactly this reason: you should know who stands behind a claim about a child’s safety.
No clinical, medical or child-development qualification is claimed. Where a question needs professional expertise, the guides say so and point at the primary source instead of paraphrasing it into advice.
